Mural worshops at Parkside School
Parkside School have won a national award for their work last term on Healthy Eating and Exercise, to celebrate this achievement mural artist Mandy Noble is working with the children to paint a large mural to be completed- 27th, 28th & 29th February.
Mandy has been at Parkside throughout the spring term conducting a series of highly creative, imaginative and of course, educational workshops with all the school’s classes. Every child in the school has had a go at painting, drawing and collage. They have made individual pieces of work as well as collaborating on large scale paintings made by projecting their own silhouettes.
This term the school has been exploring the themes of Healthy Eating, Outdoor Pursuits and Active Bodies. The mural is created in three sections to reflect theses themes and the children will also be helping Mandy to complete this monumental painting to be permanently sited in the main hall.
Mandy isn’t only a talented artist, she is also a highly skilled IT professional. So in addition to the work on site, she is producing an interactive DVD Rom that documents the children’s work and the mural. It will also compliment the issues raised in the workshop sessions and be a learning tool which teachers can use in future lessons.
The children and staff have all greatly relished the experience of having art brought into school in such a fun and exciting way.
